Problems preparing base directories
e.g. "Couldn't find disk," "Couldn't mount local disk," "Couldn't mount network volume," "Couldn't find mounted network volume," "Couldn't mount disk image," "Base directory improperly configured"
Problem:
Synk is unable to open or mount a source, destination, or archive base directory.
This error usually occurs because the directory in question is on a removable hard drive or network server that is not currently accessible. In the case of "Base directory improperly configured," it usually means you didn't define a location, but have an undefined source, destination, archive, or sync location.
Try the following:
- Make sure the location in question actually has a directory defined.
- Ensure that the server or external drive containing the directory is mountable in the Finder.
- Double-check username and password settings for base directories involving automounting network volumes or encrypted disk images.
- Try re-defining the base directory that's having trouble. For instance, formatting volumes or repartitioning drives can cause the identifiers Synk uses to locate volumes to change, so Synk needs to be given the current location of the volume to get its new identifier.
